As some of you may know, my partner GreenMountainBoy02 was repeatedly hospitalized last week with what they thought might be flu. For the last two days he has been in the Special Care Unit (ICU) at Maine Medical. His liver is not functioning properly (and they don't know why because imaging does not show damage consistent with low liver function) and he is severely anemic. I have talked to his doctor twice this afternoon. The last time was to give permission for him to be intubated and put on a respirator. They feel that he will come off of the respirator, but they are still not sure what is happening to him. I was about to go and see him but I will not so the ICU folks can do what they need to do. If something worse does happen to him, we have already said our goodbyes. I love him so much, and I trust that the doctors can help him. Thank God he has Medicare and Medicaid, and anything they don't pay I have already put in the paperwork. The hospital will eat what the government doesn't pay. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE I have just received a call from the ICU. He has been intubated and placed on a ventilator.
UPDATE Our priest Ben from the Cathedral is on his way to anoint GMB02. The acidosis has now effected his heart. They still don't think he's going to die, but the matter is taking one serious turn after another. Please pray for us.
UDATE there was some talk about our wonderful (and enormous) Ragdoll cat Geoffrey. Here he is with GMB02 at our cottage on The Rock last November:
